I worked in the Canadair office at Northrop during the build. My Dad was the Liason Officer at Northrop from the RCAF...flew in lots of the test runs from Edwards.

I can still remember, that in July 1976, I was standing in front a huge barn fire in the town of Ste-Julie, Québec.
A CAF, 433 Sqdn, CF-5, from CFB Bagotville, Quebec, had just taken off from CFB St-Hubert a few minutes before, and flew, about 200 feet in front of us (the pilot wanted to have a close look a the fire. For a 17 year old kid, that was totally amazing.

Does anyone have any more photos or info about the F-5B Demonstration aircraft 63-8445?
Does anyone know where it ended up?
I need a photo of the forward left side of the fuselage.

The CF-5A is my favorite a/c that Canada has ever flown. I get to hang around one at the Atlantic Canada Aviation Museum where I volunteer on saturdays. I sit in in when ever I can and am amazed everytime at how tight the thingypit is. It is a prized posession, and Loved by all.

I worked the CF-5A line at Canadair Ltd. (Plant #4), St. Laurent, PQ. back in the late 60's as a young Industrial Engineer. Some of the Canadian Air Force test pilots were petty hard to conrol, I guess. My first day on the job, an F-5 buzzed our second floor office. IT was summer so we had the windows open and every piece of paper in the place went flying. We thought It was pretty amusing but, unfortunately, he also blew out many windows of homes along his approch to our office. The pilot had to go to each home and apologize. I also had one dive on me when I was trying to get from one building to the next. Those were fun times!

Colin,

Yes I also like the new CT-155 Hawk a/c. It certainly is a powerful a/c, and the dark blue paint scheme is REALLY nice!

However, I still miss the CF-5 very much, and honestly would still rather be looking at this ultra sleek a/c. Oh well, I guess that I will have to go with the times!
