This plane was flown in most of the major battles beginning with D-Day by Capt.Harry Joe Bruce and he died in the plane in Germany toward the end of the war.

Harry's sister, who is 84 years old, is still living as are his nephews whom he never met. On Friday, May 28th, the Huntsville Texas Regional Airport will be renamed the Bruce Brother's Regional Huntsville Airport after Harry Joe Bruce and his brother Reeves Bruce who also died piloting a C-47 in New Guinea. They are local boys and finally the airport is being renamed after them. Sure wish I could find a C-47 around here that could fly over; (houston Texas). I am having a cake made in the shape of the plane and I will try to upload a picture of it after the ribbon cutting.
