| robert petersen laguna niguel, California | My dad was USAF Col. 'Pete' Petersen, a vet who served thirty years from 1941 until 1971, including 176 combat missions over the 'hump'. He was also a test pilot on several models of experimental aircraft including the P-52 Mustang before it went to production and was instrumental in the AWACS program, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-3_Sentry. I have a photograph of him sitting next to Lt. Col McCabe probably mere months before his death. At that time, my dad was a Lt. Col. also and also in the photo is Lt. Col.
