I slew C-119 F, FG, J. I was on the Moby Dic project at Charlsston AFB. I am now crew chief on a C-119G at the Aero Space Mueseum of California in Sacramento, CA. We need parts for the museum C-119. Got any?

The C119L 53-8084 at Little Rock was actually flown there by my brother, a pilot in our unit the 130th SOG, and we were the very last USAF/ANG unit to fly the C119's. We took the very last one to the boneyard in Sept. 1975. The aircraft at Fort Bragg 53-8087 is also from our unit then the 130th SOG. I was an engineer on the C119C, C119G and the converted C119Ls. I have flown 53-8084 all over the world during my almost 8 years as a FE. The best years of my over 30 years in the military.

I want to make contact with pilots and crew who may have been involved in the midair pick up of camera packages that were dropped from balloons in the area of Japan. We are developing an exhibit on these flights at the International Balloon Museum in Albuquerque.

My dad flew 119's in the 50's out of Charleston. I have a picture taken of s/n 18115 and 18128 over the Pee Dee River in South Carolina enroute to a training drop of Army paratroopers in 1954, I believe. The Charleston Paper had a reporter on my dad's plane for the run.

He and a friend used to ferry them from Fairchild in Hagerstown. Told me some great stories about the first 50 that had the original engines pulled because LeMay wanted the engines for SAC birds, as a result the underpowered Curtiss engines were hung.

Would appreciate anyone with any information about 119's and the units at Charleston at that time. Flying a 747-400 is no where near as much fun.
