John R. Willette Flushing, OH | A venerable old aircraft, the A6. I reported to my first duty station at NAS Oceana Virginia to work on the A6 in 1964 with VA75, We took it to nam, and kicked butt with it then got orders to VA35 for another tour when we broke records from the first trip. I ended my Naval career working on the EA6B aircraft in Washington State, then went to work for Boeing, where amongst other things I was attached to the A6E Re-wing program that was cut short due at least in part to the politics of the time. We lost a great asset when the A6 was mothballed, but the world moves on. 07/08/2006 @ 06:02 [ref: 13677] |
