Yes, that was the last known He 111 in the world to be flying. I live in Mesa Arizona the home base for this plane with the Confederate Air Force at Falcon Field before it crashed. This He 111 never saw battle. The He 111 was owned by Spain and was the Presidents personal air craft. It was refitted with British Merlin engines to make it more dependable. I had the opportunity to video this He 111 a year before its demise. It was a beautiful aircraft. The CAF painted the plane a desert camo before it's last Airshow tour. People came from all around the world to see it fly.

When your He111 came to Canada a number of years ago, it stopped at Kingston for a few days. Of course I took the tour inside the plane. That was all it took to get me to ask Bill Nagle if $500 would get me a ride. He told me to be out at the airfield at 0900 Friday and I flew from Kingston to Ottawa (approx.100 miles). It was worth every penny. It was my thrill of a lifetime.
At home, I had a partially burned German incendiary bomb that had been dropped on London during the Blitz. I acquired it from the air raid warden who recovered it. He told me it was dropped by a He111.(He was trained in aircraft idenification). When I went for my ride to Ottawa, I gave the bomb to Bill as a donation to the plane. I also noticed the cartridges in the machine gun belts were not authentic so I donated some original German WW11 8mm ammo still in the original unopened boxes.
I am writing because just today I found out the plane crashed in 2003 killing the two crewmen.
You have my belated condolences.

Was this the plane that crashed today(7/10/03) in Cheyenne, Wyoming?
A twin engine WWII Nazi bomber? I could not tell by the pictures on the news. They did not say what bomber it was.

You can now fly this beast in WWIIOL. Perfect target for the Spitfire MkI or Hurricane MkI if unescorted.
