CW4 Michael Jones USAR RET Seattle,, WA | I began Army Flight School at Ft. Wolters in 1966 with Class 67-11 A-4 the Red Hats. My first flight in an OH-23D was on 28 Nov. 1966. I soloed on 13 December, 1530 to 1600 hours, in helicopter tail number 58405 with 10 hours of flight time. What a thrill! I went on to serve a tour in Vietnam flying UH-1H and AH-1G helicopters. After 4 years of active duty, I joined the Reserves at Sand Point Naval Support Activity in Seattle and went to CH-47 transition in the summer of 1973. I retired from the Army and flying in 1993. 01/10/2006 @ 12:31 [ref: 12116] |
Al Herrle Pittsburgh, PA | Flew the oh23D at Fort Wolters in 1968/69. Was eliminated for flight deficiency after solo. (I did what I thought was right and lost.
Was wondering if there are any of the folks from the old WOC around?
I loved the school and expernece in the aircraft.
Best Wishes,
