Mike Lycette Charleston, SC | I work on WC-130, 553,554,747,665 from June 1972 to Sept. 1973. Storm chasing to Clark AB, PI to Yokota AB, Japan Wake Is, and others was fun, educational and just plain fun 05/09/2013 @ 17:56 [ref: 67804] |

Richard G. Wong Las Vegas, NV | I was stationed at Anderson AFB, Guam 1969-71 with the 54th WRS. I remember working on WC-130B/E's. Particularly tail # 553 and 554 WC-130E's. Also remember going TDY to Udorn RTAFB, Thailand. Great planes to work on, and good crews to work for! They were rugged as hell! Did a few runs to Misawa, Tachikawa(sp?)Japan coming home packed full of stuff from Japan for Christmas on Guam. Also remember one of two F-4's that a KC-135 crashed into. I was working on top of a 130 when it all happened. I don't think it took me 3 seconds to get from the top of that bird to the ground and hauling a_s! The KC-135 came to a stop on the grass that separated the runway from the parking ramp! Worked in the Avionics/Instrument shop. I think the front fuselage of #554 is in Southern Utah, just north of St. George in storage for a aircraft museum. Great memories, great plane! 09/05/2011 @ 15:26 [ref: 48605] |
