George , WA | I have read several books about the Battle of Brittan but there is one thing that puzzles me. Why is it that an external fuel [drop] tanks were never fitted? Sources have said the Bf109E-13 could carry either a centerline tank or a bomb. Considering the short range of the '109, this would have made a big difference. 06/30/2005 @ 04:11 [ref: 10628] |
william.l.henry , FL | oh yes, what a dream she is, nimble and quick, not room for a wide butt in the seat though, lol the starter gyro will kill your arm , but this bird was bad , 03/18/2005 @ 22:46 [ref: 9738] |
zzzhacker Hannover, GA | A company who is currently developing a Bf109 kit for selling is Flugwerk GmBh (www.Flugwerk.de).
Recently they successfully finished a rebuilt of a Fw190A-8 using a ASch82-T 14-radial-cylinder engine with continued \\\"Werksnummer\\\" (serial-No.), which did take off to german skies again a few months ago.
Unfortunately the fw190-kit costs a small fortune of about €550000.
But the bf109 kit presumably will be even more expensive since they plan to rebuilt the DB601 engines.

hacker

Paul F. Gabriel Alamogordo, NM | There were a small number (5?) of Fiat powered, full scale replicas of the 109 built in Europe in the late 50's early 60's. They were used in a movie (the Longest Day ??). One of these made it as far as Long Island piloted by (John Hawk?) It may have gone on to Dade County where it was used as a turist attraction. There was an article in Time magazine 65-66 about a John Hawk being detained for ferrying B26s' to Portugal. As you can tell my recolection of this is fadeing but the pictures of the 109 made me curious, does anyone out there know any details as to the where abouts of that particular airframe or what ever happened to Hawk??

Esa Haakana Espoo, OTH | Hello! Thank you for updating this web-site with recent information, about the oldtimers and
more recent airplanes. It would be nice to have expert and actual pilot commentations about the
in the air -behaviour of the fighters and especially some of these rare flying ones, like
the Hawker Sea Fury, which I was lucky enough to see, touch and visit in Hollister,CA USA
during my flying holidays in spring 2000. I have opportunity to pass along experiences of
our Finnish ME Bf 109 -pilots experiences, as in our flying club we still have licenced
pilot, who has flown the G-model.
We would like to update your information of the Original Me 109G , as it has been the fighter type of
the FAF, Finnish Air Forces. Here is the web- link to one of our air museums, at EFJY, Jyväskylä
