In 1942 FDR Decided our South America Neighborsshould have some of our advanced Training Aircraft. I was one of the group choosen. We proceded to Dallas, Texas, to the North American Plant. Picked up Eight brand new AT6's Flew them to Chicalyo, Peru SA.Via Central America, Panama, with Fuel stops along the way. Delivered & checked out the Peruvian Air force personel on all steps of operation. These were equiped with 2 .30 cal machine guns one RH wing, one syncronized to fire through rotation of the prop.100lb. bomb racks ea.wing. All Countries recieved planes, none for Argentina. Also delivered to Urugay, at this time in urugay the German Navy had scuttled the Graf Spea in the Montivedo Harbor, Part was still Visible.End of AT6 Story.Excellent Aircraft, I Loved it & some are still airworthy after 60 years unbeliveable.
