Worked on SH-3Gs from 1973-75 w/VC-5, Naha, Okinawa as an AT & the radar/sonar well was always full of hydralic fluid & water after almost every recovery flight. (Sorry about what it(the well) was called, but as you entered it was just in front of you, underfoot.

i just added some pictures,, (3 are the same and this site wont let me delete) that M Scherzi may be interested in. I drew this same helo a few years later when we formed HC 1 Det 6 and it was modified for COMSEVETNHFLT'S VIP helo.
I didn't know it had a piece in history until recently

Aviation-Space historian looking for pilots and other crew that flew the Gemini, Apollo and Skylab recoveries. Also Mercury, but that was a different airframe.

Real pilots hover.

I was a resuce swimmer/ASW crewman on Sea Kings from 1986 to 1994. I server with HS-17 on board the USS Coral Sea. I loved our sea kings and hated to see the new H-60F's start to replace them right before I got out.

My first squadron was VC-5 Checkertails, NAS Cubi Point 1979-1982. Had a great time working on the SH-3G (I was proud to be called a "Rotorhead") and A-4E / TA-4J. What a great time in my Navy career. Any old shipmates drop me a line. Pi_sailor@yahoo.com.

Hi All,

I'm a huge Sea King fan and was looking for any original squadron or decomm patches from any of the old HC Squadrons as trying to peice together a collection of H-3 squadron patches (I'm 17 so doing it for a keepsake type of thing). I can send a little something ($$) if need be. If anyone can help me please drop me a line.

Thanks and Fly Navy!
