Ed Law Pensacola, FL | In 1943 no plane could have been better for the purpose. We had 35 hours in the Piper J-3 before getting to Navy "E" base. With as many as 10 or 15 taking off and landing simultaneously on dumbbell mats plus the rigorous aerobatics the plane was virtually indestructible and many survived some pretty awful accidents.
A little heavy on the controls it was no problem for well conditioned young Naval cadets.
To this day, a wonderful "real" airplane. 08/28/2010 @ 08:37 [ref: 29616] |
