I was a Plane Captain for VF-143 with my name on Aircraft 114 buno number 162924. VF-143 is now a VFA-143, converted to F/A-18E/F Super Hornet. The line shack phone number was (757)433-4250. I believe that they are in Ca. already.

I wanted to visit here, but I did not make it. Once again, the toursit information personnel were highly uncooperative.

Was pleased to see 157988 F 14. I was plane captain on this aircraft at PMTC Pt. Mugu from 1974 to 1978. Was surprised to see aircraft painted the way it is. It was called Bloodhound 209 at Mugu. The aircraft was involved in the famous 6 on 6 Phoenix missle tests.Best pilot to fly the aircraft was Lt. Cdr. Hot Dog Brown. Neat to see my old baby, I will have to come see it someday.

I was stationed here in the early forties with VF 13 Air Group.I would like to know if any information pertaining to this group still remains at the Naval Air Station. We were later sent into combat on the U.S.S. Franklin.

The aircraft park at Oceana is a great place to see at the base, right off of the main road. Many interesting Navy jets are in parked there. --Mike
