I was assigned to VC8 at Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico. My first job was on the flight line mainly plane captaining our jets but also helped the crews on the recips move, fuel and service them. We had 2 T28 Trojans whose primary mission was to spot the Firebee Drones in the water after they had flown their respective missions. The T28's would spot the drones bobbing in the ocean on the range then call in the Sikorsky H3 Seaking helos to pluck them from the water and return to base to refurb the drones for their next mission. We has DP2E Neptunes to deliver the drones to the range. I loved working around all the aircraft.

I was assigned to VT-6 in 1978-1981 on T-28. This has been the one plane I remember most of all out of the past 36 years as an aircraft mechanic. A gentleman in North Pole Alaska has 6 restored T-28 Aircraft and I never miss a moment to see one. Best years of my 21 year military career Will be forever in my mind at NAS Whiting Field, Milton FL. I lost contact with so many their. T-28 was and still is a great Aircraft.

I was stationed at VT-6 Whiting Field from 1976-1980. This was my first Duty Station. I loved this aircraft now looking back it was so simple. I went on and did my 20 years in the Navy and now I still work for the Navy on F18's at NAS Jacksonville Fl. I worked on 5 different aircraft in my career, it has been quite a journey from back then.

I worked on T28's while stationed in Milton, Fl from 1976-1979 attached to squadrons VT2 and VT6 and these photos bring back a lot a memories. These planes sounded awesome at full power while doing the full power checks after power-plant work. Thanks for the memories.

Hi,
We are living in Belgium. We have a flying T28 in our country. We painted it in august 2000 in the original red and white colours as seen on the picture nr 4.
We will send you some pictures in the future. (they first must be put on a CD-rom)
Can you send us an e-mail address ? We accidently found your pictures on the internet by surfing the net looking for airplanes.
Do you have a website ?
Kind regards
Swa and Ria Dethier
